What is Capital Region Earth Day?

As a partner of EarthDay.org, Capital Region Earth Day is a community of passionate leaders encouraging businesses, schools and local groups within the Capital Region to host Earth Day events and collaborate on a large cultural event. Combining efforts to create a collective act of celebratory activism empowers our community to work better together to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement throughout the remainder of the year.

In 2022, Earth Day is on Friday, April 22. To accommodate the schedules of our community groups, the Capital Region Earth Day website focuses on actions planned from April 15th through May 1st. This year the focus is on the following Capital Region counties: Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady.

When April arrives, you can view the depth of action on www.CapitalRegionEarthDay.com. Until then, you are invited to join a team of inclusive leaders as we work together to understand ourselves, one another and our environment for the purpose of enriching and serving humanity.

How to help:

  • Spread the word. Share www.CapitalRegionEarthDay.com with your network.

    • Let’s work together to ensure everyone’s initiatives are included and the ease of environmental action is well known.

  • Consider hosting or collaborating on an event. Our shared experience can support you in bringing your idea to life.

  • Build the individual action bank. With many options, we can make it easy for people to find their own Earth Day action.

    • Identify actions specific to your group’s initiatives to help new faces get involved.

  • Join the planning team by filling out this form.

    • We coordinate the calendar of Earth Day events and find ways to promote participation.

    • We encourage the creation of events and reach out to mainstream groups to sponsor events.

    • We set the vision for a large collaborative Community Cultural event on Earth Day.
